The C-CAMP One Health AMR Challenge, supported by funding from The International Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions (ICARS), anchored by Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms under the aegis of the India AMR Innovation Hub (IAIH) aims to identify technologies or innovations which are addressing AMR related challenges under the One Health spectrum.
VISION
-
Selection of innovations that improve the availability and accessibility of affordable tools and innovative solutions to tackle the AMR problems in One Health sectors.
-
Accelerate the development of the most promising innovative solutions for the Indian context to support decision-making for the appropriate use of antibiotics.
-
Understand the AMR diagnostic discovery landscape and provide evidence-based recommendations to support the development, use and uptake of effective AMR technologies.

BACKGROUND
C-CAMP and ICARS announced a partnership on 14th October 2024, in New Delhi. The event was presided over by Prof. Ajay K. Sood, Principal Scientific Advisor to GOI and Chair of IAIH, and His Excellency Freddy Svane, Ambassador at the Royal Danish Embassy, along with the board of directors of ICARS. With this partnership, ICARS joins hands with C-CAMP and the India AMR Innovation Hub (IAIH), to support innovations for addressing the unmet needs in AMR in India.
The mission of ICARS is to partner with Low- and Middle-income countries (LMICs) in their efforts to reduce drug-resistant infections. This is done by co-developing tailored solutions with LMIC governments and researchers, who then implement them on the ground using ICARS funding and expertise, building on AMR National Action Plans.

The mission of ICARS is to partner with Low- and Middle-income countries (LMICs) in their efforts to reduce drug-resistant infections. Establish international research partnerships and support research competitions that fund innovation and development of new technologies to tackle AMR.
Leverage investment from other partners and donors to support sustainable financing for AMR.
Establish global research partnerships using a ‘One Health’ approach.
Fund projects that will develop solutions specifically for LMICs.
Through an open call for proposals and a rigorous selection process, we seek to identify and support the most promising technologies and innovative solutions to tackle AMR. This call aims to identify novel approaches for detection, diagnostics, technologies for prevention, and technologies to support treatment.

Financial support

Innovations selected through this programme will receive financial support, in the range of $50k- $250k, (₹40 lacs - ₹ 2 crores), based on their stage of innovations and readiness. The call specifically aims to invite mid to late-stage innovations, belonging to the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) ranging between (as per BIRAC guidelines) 6-9, for support and enablement.
Technical support

C-CAMP & ICARS will also provide technical support, including local expert advice on regulatory affairs, legal, Intellectual Property (IP), manufacturing, technical, market strategies and readiness, global relevance for AMR
Mentorship

Successful applicants will also receive mentorship and enablement support from C-CAMP and ICARS on implementation and potential scale-up to advance the AMR-focused solutions, and to accelerate their translation into viable products and services during the period of support through this call.
